Utah began to compile data on legally performed abortions in 1974 to comply with Utah State law (ยง76-7-305.7) that requires a report on abortions performed in Utah to be presented to the Utah State Legislature. The abortion report helps to make commonly used vital records statistics available to lawmakers, health programs, health care providers, businesses, researchers, educational institutions, and the Utah public.
